CD Projekt RED confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will be slightly different in Japan. Japan revisions were generally on nudity, but scattered guts and ‘genital-shaped objects’ will also be revised for CPR2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released in Japan censored
Changes have been made to the game to comply with the requirements of the Japanese rating agency CERO, according to CD Projekt RED‘s statement. Nudity contents – including the main hero – will be closed with their underwear in Japan. In other parts of the game, scenes with nudity themes, which are the nature of sexuality, have also been edited, billboards, some wound surfaces and scattered intestines and internal organs, graffiti and ‘genital shaped objects’ have been corrected or removed. Customizable genitals will also not be a feature that works in Japan.
In the statement, “limbs and trunks torn during the war” are not changed. They said that the changes made without changing the nature of the game are only on scattered internal organs, including sexuality, nudity and brutality. They stated that no “real event” was deleted from the game.
As you know, every country has its own preferences on video games and movies. Japan’s censorship practices on such products are very strict. They do not show any element that goes beyond the moral norms created in society in games, movies or serials. As Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that CD Projekt RED, like Witcher 3, is a free and brave game, regulations were made on the Japanese side. Certain content has been removed from the game to comply with CERO’s requirements.
Cyberpunk 2077 Preliminary Review
Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person role-playing game made by CD Projekt RED, the developer of the Witcher series and Gwent card game. In the game, where we will start our journey as a cyber bandit in the city of Night City, where body modification has become obsessed, they promise a double play time of Witcher 3.
We are actually entitled to many details about the game with the gameplay videos published in the 2018 Deep Dive, 48 minutes in 2018, and the Night City Wire event recently.
CD Projekt RED‘s expected game was postponed for the last time after many delays, fixing its release date on November 19, 2020. Many different categories of products have also been released for the game. A comic book of the game will be released in September and an animation on Netflix will be released in 2022.
